About sight: Residenzplatz

This is the main square of the Old Town (Salzburgerland) designed by Italian architects in 17th century. In 1661 there was installed the fountain in the middle of the square decorated with tritons and shells. The square is faced by the main cathedral of Salzburg and the luxury baroque residence of archbishops, which was built among the city quarters when they decided to reside no longer in the castle.
