About sight: Psakho River Canyon

The canyon of the Psakho River may be considered one of the most visited places, where you can see a relic yew & boxwood forest, as well as have a tour of the canyons of ancient rivers.

The canyon of the Psakho River is on the way from Adler to the high-land Krasnaya Polyana (Red Glade). On the road to Krasnaya Polyana you should turn at the Krasny Brod sign, and in the center of the village Golitsyno turn to the left. You should take it into consideration that you can surely overcome the stretch after Golitsyno only in a vehicle with increased cross-country capability, though you can risk to do it in a regular car, but then you will have no guarantee that you won't be stuck there.

There is a large recreation zone with a great number of various cafes at the entrance of the canyon of the Psakho River. It is just there that the paths going along the relic yew & boxwood groves start. Unlike the Navalishinsky Canyon, everything is civilized here.

There were laid wood decks in the relic groves. On them you can go along the bed of the river Psakho to the canyon. It is rather deep – rocks reach the height of several tens of meters. In a good weather you can go along the bed of the river Psakho as far as a waterfall. When it is fine you can also have a dip here, and if you go even farther, you can reach the most interesting site – the Dry Canyon (but you must be aware that the way isn’t easy).

If you don’t want to go about 2 kilometers along the riverbed to the Dry Canyon, you can do it in a motor-car. There will be a Dry Canyon guide with a beast skull on a detour road – you should follow that guide.

Dry Canyon is a narrow cleft in the rocks reaching the height of several dozens of meters. It is a former bed of the river Psakho. Today the river flows in a different direction, and we were left a wonderful nature site.

You can have a walk over the Dry Canyon and admire relic trees grown in the rocks, boulders covered with moss and, surely, the narrow trough of the canyon itself. In one place rocks nearly touch each other leaving a passage of no more than 2 meters.
