About Potsdam Square: Potsdam Square

Before the World War II in the areas adjoining the Potsdam Square there were a great number of governmental institutions, including two Reich Chancellery buildings, as well as the Bunker of Hitler. After the Berlin Wall was pulled down there began the large redevelopment activities, and as a result beautiful skyscrapers appeared in the Potsdam Square.

Now it is one of the most visited places in Berlin. As at the time of the Weimar Republic, the Potsdam Square is one of the most bohemian places in the capital of Germany. There are many cafes and restaurants, as well as big shopping centers in the Potsdam Square. The Kaisersaal (emperor hall) and the breakfast hall were integrated with new skyscrapers. Today the Kaisersaal houses a fashionable restaurant. On the Sony-Center is a viewing platform.
