A wonderful place, Pushkinskiye Gory (Pushkin Hills), is 120 kilometers to the south of Pskov. One way or another everything is related to the life of a great Russian poet A. S. Pushkin there. Apart from the estates of noble families, you can also admire beautiful nature of central Russia.
St. Trinity Pskov Caves Monastery is often called the Lavra, which stresses its significance for the Russian Orthodox Church (officially, there are only two Lavras in Russia – Trinity-Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad and Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg). The monastery was founded in 1473
The city of Izborsk (now a village) is 30 kilometers from Pskov on the way to Riga. There you must visit the nearby ancient sights: the Izborsk fortress and the Truvor`s Gorodishche, as well as the nearby Slavonic Springs and the Lake Gorodishchenskoye.
The museum estate of Mussorgsky, a great Russian composer, is on the shore of Lake Zhizhetskoye at Naumovo. The estate is not far from Moscow-Pskov highway.
