The Protestant Church of the Holy Spirit is located near the Main Train station of Bern. It was built in the Baroque style by the knights Hospitallers of the Holy spirit. The Swiss call it Heiliggeistkirche.

The Church of the Holy Spirit was founded in 1726 on the site of an earlier Christian Church. The Church was originally built as a Protestant temple, and eventually became one of the most remarkable Protestant churches in Switzerland.

The architect Albrecht Sturler applied interesting solutions, especially in the interior design of the Church. An arched colonnade was created around the circumference of the Church. This is a very rare architectural solution for churches of those times.

During the reformation, Protestants simply removed any decor from Catholic churches, so usually the walls of Protestant churches look very ascetic. In the Church of the Holy Spirit, the architect`s decisions made it possible to fill the interior of the Church with harmony.
