At the Near caves begins a wooden gallery, where you can go to the Distant caves. They are located in the Lower Lavra, at the foot of the hill. These Caves are called «Theodosius» in honor of the Abbot Theodosius. There are 49 relics of the canonized Pechersk Saints.

The Distant caves are located deeper (20 m) than the Near caves (5-10 m). The total length of its corridors reaches 292 meters. It is believed that here is one of the oldest caves of the monastery-Varangian cave. During the excavations that were made in 1988, the cave of Saint Theodosius was discovered, which he dug in 1058.

In the Distant caves you can visit the underground Church of the Nativity of Christ, the underground Church of the monk Theodosius the Abbot of Pechersk. The Church of the Annunciation of the Holy Virgin, which is considered the oldest Church in the entire Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, is also located here.

At the top, near the entrance to the Distant Caves, there is a Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin and a bell tower, as well as a small Anna Conception Church. From here, you can go down to the Dnipro river.
