15.08.2011 An exhibition devoted to the 80th anniversary of the third tallest building in America was opened in New York

Empire State BuildingAt the Empire State Building an exhibition was opened dedicated to the construction story of this national monument of America, reports Geo Meridian portal.

This exhibition, costing about 2 million U.S. dollars, is focused on several construction subjects, namely speed and scale of the construction, as well as unique design of this third tallest building in the USA.

So, construction of such tall tower required only 11 months, and perfect proportions of its steel frame could be interesting even for today architects and engineers.

Apart from photos and documents, containing a lot of curious construction facts, the exposition also includes original sketches and drawings of the building, as well as accounting records.

Having seen the exhibition you can also visit the restored observatory, which is at the 86th floor of the skyscraper. Every day Empire State Building is open for tourists from eight in the morning to eight in the evening.
