28.09.2011 Vehicle tax will be introduced in Palanga

In the next summer season the authorities of Palanga are going to impose a tax on the tourists who will enter the city in a motor-car, reports Geo Meridian portal.

According to the local administration, the introduction of this tax is due to the necessity to further develop tourist infrastructure of this well-known Lithuanian resort. Tentatively, the sum of the tax will be in the range of 2 - 5 lits.

Recently, the authorities of another resort city Druskininkai have introduced the similar tax, in spite of the attempts of those who opposed this idea to dispute the decision in the court.

However, the court acknowledged the lawfulness of that decision of the local administration justifying its verdict by the law allowing the administration of a resort city to take money for using the city infrastructure, related with health care, tourism and recreation.
