19.10.2011 Ferry communication to be restored in Venice

VeniceVenice Gondolier Association promised to fully restore the ferry communication on the Grand Canal, reports Geo Meridian portal. 12 gondola ferries called 'traghetti’ will be ploughing the waters of the Canal since October 2011.

Remember, that during 2009 and 2010 the managing company San Samuele cancelled most of 'traghetti’ runs because of their low payback and high maintenance cost.

This convenient water transport, which served to transfer tourists from one side of the Canal to the other, where there were no bridges, has a capacity of up to 14 passengers, with fare being just 50 European cents.
