13.02.2012 Water buses will appear in Greece

In Greece they decided to follow the example of the capital of Turkey Istanbul and create a network of water buses in Salonika and Chalcis, reports Geo Meridian portal.

In Salonika the first 6 stops will be built already by the beginning of the next year, and a year later, that is, by 2014, at once 24 stops will be built in Chalcis. The implementation of the project was given to Aristotle University of Salonika.

According to the initiators of the project this new mode of transport will allow improving both traffic and environmental situation. It is supposed that the price of ticket will be in the range from 1,2 (in Chalcis) to 1,5-3 euros (in Salonika). Buses will run every 15-20 minutes.
