22.05.2012 The first Russian World War I museum to be opened near St. Petersburg

World War I Museum will be opened not far from St. Petersburg by the 100th anniversary since the beginning of the war, in 2014, reports Geo Meridian portal.

The museum will be located in the building of the Military Chamber (Ratnaya Palata) in the city of Pushkin (former Tsarskoye Selo). It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and was intended for the Glory of Russian Arms Museum. Now construction works are being finished in the Military Chamber and exhibits are being collected for the future museum.

And the place for the new museum wasn’t chosen incidentally. As during that war there were located about 60 hospitals and barracks in Tsarskoye Selo, and today a military cemetery is located there.
