28.05.2012 Museum of thimbles opened in Southern Urals

The first Russian museum of thimbles was opened in a small town of Kopeysk (Southern Urals), located not far from Chelyabinsk, reports Geo Meridian portal.

The idea of the museum was suggested by Vladimir Malinovsky, director of local clothes factory. His own collection was put down in the foundation of the museum exposition. He collected it for  over 5 years.

The exposition consists of 222 exhibits from different countries of Europe, Egypt, Turkey, Cuba, China and Russia. It includes rare and interesting thimbles, such as the thimble from Yakutia made of genuine mammoth's tusk, china and silver thimbles inlaid with precious stones, as well as special leather and tissue devices for furriers.

Now organizers of the museum are working at the special tourist route and training guides for this new topic.
