22.01.2013 Ice sculpture festival to be opened in Jerusalem

Jerusalim, IsraelIce Sculpture Festival will be conducted from February, 20 to April, 30 in Jerusalem, reports Geo Meridian portal.

This festival will be held on the territory of the old railway station of the city. On the area of about 1500 square meters there will be exhibited ice compositions created by the artists from different countries. They are the walls of the Old Town and the Biblical Zoo, as well as ice figures of the favorite fairy-tale characters.

There will be an ice bar and a skating-rink, as well as various snack bars and cafeterias near the exposition pavilion.

The ancient city of Jerusalem is the center of three world religions – Muslim, Judaism and Christianity. Today the Old Town is divided into four quarters – Arab, Christian, Jewish and Armenian. Within the walls of the Old Town you can see such important Christian sights as the Wailing Wall, Holy Sepulcher, Via Dolorosa, Gethsemane Garden and Olive Mount. The world's most beautiful mosque – the Dome of the Rock – is also located in Jerusalem.
