01.02.2013 Viking museum to be opened in the Curonian Spit

In order to increase the tourist attractiveness of the region the museum village of Vikings will be constructed at the Curonian Spit in 2013, reports Geo Meridian portal.

Besides curious exhibits related with the history of Vikings, the visitors of this open-air museum can make trips around the Curonian Lagoon in the real Viking boat.

The Curonian Spit National Park, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is on the border of Lithuania in the north of Kaliningrad region. Southern part of the Curonian Spit belongs to the Russian Federation. There are 3 resort towns, including Zelenogradsk, and 6 tourist routes such as Royal Pine Forest, Fringilla and Dancing Forest on the Russian territory of the Curonian Spit. Sand dunes are farther to the north.
