15.02.2013 Ice flood in Venice

As a result of incessant pouring rains in the north of Italy the largest anomalous flood has began in Venice, reports Geo Meridian portal.

For just a day there fell the monthly norm of precipitation and the entire historical center of the city was covered with water, including the famous San Marco Square.

Venice is a large sea port and the center of international tourism in the north of Italy. Most of the countries have their small Venice, but none of them can be compared with the Italian Venice. You'd better start your acquaintance with the city from the St. Mark's Square where all the main sights of Venice are concentrated, such as the Cathedral of St. Mark and the Palace of Doges. You should also make a gondola ride on the canals of the city. One of the main moorings of gondolas is on the St. Mark's Square.
