Minsk is a fairly young city. Independence Avenue, the main street of the city, may be a kind of a tourist attraction of Minsk because of its atmosphere of the 30th of 20 century created mainly by the monumental buildings constructed in the so-called Stalin Empire style. However, the true tourist center of Minsk is Troitsk Suburb on the shore of the lake formed by the river Svisloch. It is the oldest quarter of the city dating back to as much as 11 century.
