Summer and Mikhailovsky gardens in St.Petersburg

Plan a visit to the Russian Museum, as well as the attractions that are located near the Mikhailovsky and Summer Garden. This walk will take you half a day.

Start your walk near the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood on the Griboyedov Canal. Be sure to go inside to see the famous Byzantine-style mosaic panels. Then head to the Mikhailovsky Palace, which houses the Russian Museum.

Visit the Russian Museum and see famous paintings by Russian artists. This collection will allow you to get acquainted with Russian culture and art. The adjacent building attached to the Russian Museum is an Ethnographic Museum. Many people do not visit it, but it is worth visiting. This is the largest museum in Russia, where all the peoples who inhabit the country are described in detail.

After that, go to the Mikhailovsky Garden, which is located on the other side of the palace. Go to the Rossi Pavilion, which is located on the bank of the Griboyedov Canal. Near the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, be sure to look at the cast-iron fence. This is a magnificent example of cast iron castings of the 18th century.

Exit the Mikhailovsky Garden, visit the Engineering Castle, and then go to the Summer Garden. This is the oldest garden in St. Petersburg. There you can visit the Summer Palace of Tsar Peter I.

Walk along the Neva River embankment to the Marble Palace. This is a beautiful example of grand ducal residences. The interior and exterior decoration of the palace are made of marble in different shades.
