Right bank of Neva river

The historical center of St. Petersburg is located on the left bank of the Neva River; however, on the right bank of the river there are also many interesting sights. The main attraction on the right bank of the Neva River is the Peter and Paul Fortress, but start your walk from the Museum of the House of Peter I.

The House of Peter the Great Museum is located on Petrovskaya Embankment. Here you can see the very first wooden house of St. Petersburg, where Peter I lived when he began the construction of the city in 1703. It is located inside a stone box. On the embankment near the House of Peter the Great, see the monuments of the Lions of Shi-Tza.

Walk through the Trinity Square to the Main Mosque of St. Petersburg. It is built in the style of the Bukhara mosques of Uzbekistan. From the mosque, walk across the bridge to Zayachy Island, where the Peter and Paul Fortress is located. Here, go to the Peter and Paul Cathedral. All Russian emperors, starting with Peter I, are buried in it. Take a walk through the bastions, visit the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, as well as the Museum of the Prison Trubetskoy Bastion.

Exit the Peter and Paul Fortress from the opposite side and go to the Arrow of Vasilievsky Island. Look at the rastral columns, take a walk near the water. After that, go along the University Embankment of the Neva River. At the beginning of the embankment is the Kuntskamera. This is the first museum in Russia, founded by Tsar Peter I.

Go a little further and you will see the Menshikov Palace. This is the first stone palace in St. Petersburg. Go even further along the embankment to the Egyptian sphinxes (13th century BC), which are installed in front of the Academy of Fine Arts.
