Tsar Peter I in the late 17th century began the construction of ships of the Russian navy in Voronezh, so many places here are associated with him. During his rule, the Annunciation Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in Russia, was built and consecrated, as well as the Intercession Cathedral on the high bank of the Voronezh River.

Start your tour of the Petrovsky Places of Voronezh from Admiralty Square. Here you can see the Goto Predescinacya ship. This is the first warship built by Pert I in Voronezh. It was recreated from historical drawings.

From Admiralty Square, climb the high bank. Here you will see the Intercession Cathedral. The cathedral building, which has survived to this day, was built in 1700. Then go to Petrovsky Square. It has a monument to Peter the Great.

Next to Petrovsky Square is the Annunciation Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Russia. It was built in 1682, but in the Soviet years, the cathedral was destroyed. In the early 2000s, the cathedral was restored.
