Kostomarovsky cave Monastery is located 170 kilometers south of Voronezh. It can be called one of the most unusual monasteries in Russia, as many of its temples are carved into the chalk rocks.

Take the Moscow-Don highway south of Voronezh. Turn in the direction of the village of Liski, and then continue to the village of Kostomarovo. It is located in the Chalk Mountains. Some churches and monasteries are cut down in mountain caves.
