Ples embankment and Cathedral mountain

The town of Ples is located on steep hills, near the bank of the Volga River. It is divided into two parts by the Shokhonka River. Many attractions are located along the embankment, and you can plan a walk along it yourself, but we offer to see all the sights of the Ples within two routes (on different hills).

Start the tour near the Trinity Church on the bus terminal square. This is a wonderful example of Russian Baroque. From there, go down to the Trading square and walk to the Resurrection Church. It is built on a small hill above the square, look at the old wooden church nearby.

Go down from the church to the Trading Square, take a walk through the shopping malls. There are cafes and restaurants on the square. After that, walk along the embankment. Here you will see the houses of the rich merchants of Ples. Reach the Shokhonka River, but don't cross the bridge. You will see that part of the city on the other route "Levitan's places in Ples".

On this route, climb the path to Cathedral Mountain. Along this path you will also see several interesting houses that used to belong to merchants of Ples. At the top of Cathedral Mountain, first walk along its edge from the side of Embankment of the Ples. You will see beautiful views of the Volga and Levitan Mountain. Walk to the viewing point, where you can see a beautiful view of the Resurrection Church.

After that, return to the Museum Chamber of Representatives. This museum is dedicated to the history of Ples and the Ivanovo region since ancient times. Nearby is located the Assumption Cathedral.
