A visit to Tsarskoye Selo is just as popular as Peterhof. Many tourists come here for a short time, just to visit the Catherine Palace, as well as to walk in the park around the palace. However, there are many more attractions in Tsarskoye Selo. Here we offer the most complete route.
Start your tour with a visit to the Catherine Palace, see the famous Amber Room. After that, go to the Regular Park to the Hermitage Pavilion. After that, go to the Big Pond. In the Catherine Park on the shore of the pond, many beautiful pavilions have been built, including the Cameron Gallery.
After walking around the palace, go to the entrance to the Alexander Park. The size of this park is much larger than in the Catherine Park. At the very beginning, it is divided into 4 squares, which are called "steeps". Next to them is the Alexander Palace, it is open to the public. The family of the last Emperor of Russia, Nicholas II, lived in this palace.
From the Alexander Palace, walk to the White Tower, and then to the Arsenal Pavilion. After that, exit the park to the Imperial Farm and walk to the Museum of the Military Chamber. This is the only museum in Russia dedicated to the WWI.
Finish your day in Tsarskoye Selo with a visit to two museums associated with the name of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. One of them is located in the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, and the second in Pushkin's villa, which he rented during a summer vacation in Tsarskoye Selo. Alternatively, you can visit the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum first, as the entrance to it is located next to the entrance to the Catherine Palace and the park.
