The length of the Adyr-Su Gorge from the entrance of the Baksan Gorge to the Sarykolbashi Mountain is 17 kilometers. The most picturesque part of the gorge, where snow-capped mountain peaks and glaciers rise, is located at the end of the gorge, at a distance of 11 kilometers from the Baksan Gorge.

If you decide to visit the gorge of the Adyr-Su River, then you need to plan logistics – how you will get to the lower station of the lift at Doctor’s Pass, and how you will walk /drive from the upper station of the lift to the Ullu-Tau Mountaineering camp.

The gorge of the Adyr-Su River can be divided into two parts. The lower part of the gorge is overgrown with dense pine forest, and the ground is covered with moss. This part of the gorge stretches for 8.3 kilometers from the Doctor`s Pass to the New Dzhailyk mountaineering camp. The climb on this segment is 660 m (from 1640 m to 2300 m). The distance and the climb are quite significant, besides the landscapes in the dense forest are monotonous. Many tourists prefer to order a car from the Mountaineering camp. It picks up tourists at the upper station of the Doctor`s Pass. These kilometers can be walked, but it will take several hours.

After the mountaineering camp, the New Dzhailyk trail opens into a wide valley. The snow-covered Ullu-Tau Mountain is already visible here. This part of the gorge (5 km) is the most picturesque. Most tourists live in the Ullu-Tau Mountaineering camp. There are many hiking trails around it.

Two of the most popular: to the Glade of Desires at the foot of Ullu-Tau Mountain, as well as to the Living Lake in the gorge of the Kullumkol River.

In this place, the mountains of the Greater Caucasus Range rise above the gorge of the Adyr-Su River: Ullu-Tau (4207 m), Chegettauchan (4019 m) and Sarykolbashi (4160 m). Their slopes are covered with glaciers and snow caps all year round. There are numerous climbing routes on the Gumachi and Adyr-Su glaciers.
