An octagonal wooden gazebo is installed at the highest point of the cape — a popular gathering place for tourists and photographers in the evening. The gazebo was specially built by local residents for watching sunsets and has become an integral part of the cape`s landscape.

Historical Significance and Legends

Cape Tataysky has a rich history. Archaeological finds indicate settlements of ancient people from the Neolithic era, and in the Middle Ages it was used as an observation post. The name "Tataysky" comes from the Buryat word "tata" meaning bend, curve of a river.

Legends of the cape:
Legend of Shaman Tatai: According to legend, a wise shaman-healer lived here, who performed rituals and healed people. The spirits warned him that his strength was depleting, and to restore his energy, he had to go to Zabaykalsky Krai in search of a magical artifact.
Legend of the Spirits in Love: The cape is considered a meeting place for the spirit of Baikal and the spirit of the wind, who brings the most vibrant colors every evening for his beloved.
Legend of the Shamanic Circle: The cape is part of an energy circle together with Shaman Rock and Cape Bogatyr, where shamans performed rituals to enhance their vision and insight.
Legend of the Sunset Stone: On the northern slope there is a stone of an unusual shape: it is believed that if you make a wish while looking at the sunset through a hole in the stone, it will certainly come true.

Natural Features

The cape is composed of marbleized limestone aged 400-500 million years. Its gentle slopes are covered with steppe vegetation, and unique wind erosion forms create a unique landscape. The cape ends with the vertical cliff "Bogatyr" (Hero), giving it a special majesty.

The cape is easily accessible on foot from any point in Khuzhir — the walk takes from 15 to 30 minutes. The best time to visit is the hours before sunset, when the sun paints the waters of the Maloye More in purple and golden tones.

Cape Tataysky is not just a geographical object, but the true "sunset heart" of Khuzhir, where ancient legends intertwine with the beauty of Baikal`s nature, creating a magical atmosphere for everyone who wants to feel the true spirit of Olkhon.
