At the western tip of Gezira Island, at the foot of the famous Novotel Hotel, lies one of Cairo`s most elegant and tranquil promenades – the paid-entry El Gezira Walkway. This spot offers an interesting experience for a bustling metropolis: the chance to enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the Nile and both city banks in an atmosphere of serenity and cleanliness.

Gezira Island, with its wide streets, diplomatic quarters, and upscale buildings, has always been a "different Cairo" – more European, orderly, and green. This walkway continues that tradition. It is a well-maintained pedestrian promenade, paved with tiles, featuring modern design, stylish lamps, and comfortable benches. There is no chaotic traffic, street vendors, or hustle and bustle. Instead, you`ll find pristine cleanliness, fresh river air, and the feeling of a private open-air club.

What will you see?

Panoramas: From the walkway, you get perhaps the most picturesque view of the Zamalek business district, the gleaming skyscrapers of Cairo 205, and, of course, the perpetually busy Corniche on the opposite bank. The view is especially beautiful at sunset when the water and sky turn golden and crimson.

El Andalos Park: For almost its entire length, the walkway skirts the beautiful, shady El Andalos Park with its palm-lined avenues and manicured lawns, creating the sensation of strolling in a large garden.

River Life: You can observe the lively traffic on the Nile: from traditional sailing feluccas and hotel floating restaurants to modern speedboats and cruise liners.

Practical Information:

Entrance: Access to the walkway is only through one controlled entrance, located near the dock of the floating restaurant "Blue Nile Boat" (close to the Kasr Al Nile Bridge). Entry is paid (a symbolic fee of about 20-30 Egyptian pounds). It is precisely this measure that ensures the cleanliness, order, and low number of people here.

Atmosphere: This place is suitable for a leisurely romantic walk, quiet rest with a book, a photoshoot with the best views of Cairo, or simply enjoying silence after a day spent in noisy bazaars and museums.

For whom: For those who value comfort, beautiful views, and are willing to pay for a peaceful setting. If you are looking for authentic local hustle and bustle, this walkway is not for you.

Tip: Plan your visit for the late afternoon to end your walk by watching the famous Cairo sunset as the city begins to light up.
