Glade of Desires at Ullu-Tau Mountain

The Glade of Desires at the foot of Ullu-Tau Mountain is one of the most famous mystical places in the mountainous Caucasus. Many peoples of the Caucasus consider it a Place of Power and come here to ask Ullu-Tau Mountain for the fulfillment of their innermost desires.  

The inhabitants of the mountainous Caucasus call the mountain Ullu-Tau: "Mother-Mountain" or "God`s Mountain". According to the belief, most often women come here who ask the Mother-Mountain for the birth of a child, and these desires are fulfilled.

The Glade of Desires is located at the foot of Ullu-Tau Mountain. In this place, a glacier in the form of a lotus flower on the northern slope of the mountain is very clearly visible. The shape of this glacier gives mysticism to the mountain, since in Eastern religions the lotus flower is a symbol of purity and perfection. Such should be the thoughts of people coming to the Glade of Desires to Mount Ullu-Tau. 

When people come to the Glade of Desires, they make a wish and build their small pyramids out of stones. On the path that runs along the bed of the Adyr-Su River, you will see several more Stones of Desires. These are huge boulders. People touch them, make a wish and put their small stones on top. There are several Stones of Desires on the way , but when you enter the Glade of Desires, you will immediately realize that you have reached the goal. Hundreds of pyramids of stones are installed in the Glade of Desires. 

The Glade of Desires is located 16 kilometers from the upper station of the lift at the Doctor`s Pass. The easiest way to visit it is by private or rented car. In this case, you need to take the lift at the Doctor`s Pass and then drive along the dirt road to the Ullu-Tau Mountaineering camp. Here you need to find the camp staff and get a pass to the border zone. For citizens of the Russian Federation, it is issued by passport. After that, you need to leave the car at the camp and walk along the 3.5 km path. The climb will be 400 meters. It`s not difficult for people with good physical fitness.  

If you don`t have a car, then it`s easiest to go to the Glade of Desires with an excursion. Otherwise, you will have to walk all 15 kilometers from the lift at the Doctor`s Pass, and the climb will be more than 1000 meters. It`s very difficult. Alternatively, you can order a car from the Ullu-Tau Mountaineering camp to the upper station of the lift, but it will cost about the same as the excursion.
