Gveleti Waterfall is located near the border crossing between Georgia and Russia. If you have a car, then you can visit it yourself. The height of the Gveleti waterfall reaches 25 meters, at the same time, the path to the waterfall, which goes through a picturesque gorge, is of no less interest.

To visit the Gveleti Waterfall, you need to drive 8 kilometers from Stepantsminda north to the village of Gveleti. Turning left, park directly at the main road, and then go to the Gveleti Waterfall on foot. Some travel companies take tourists on SUVs to the river (400 meters further), but there is no point in this.

A very picturesque path along the Gveletistskali River begins right in the village of Gveleti. Here you will see the foundations of destroyed houses and very beautiful views of the Daryal Gorge and the adjacent canyon of the Gveletistskali River.

The total distance from the Georgian Military Road (where you park) to the Gveleti Waterfall is 1.1 km. The climb is quite significant, 240 meters, but in general, the trail is not difficult even for children. Naturally, your shoes and clothes should be suitable for walking on a mountain trail.

There are many beautiful juniper thickets growing on the path, with mountain peaks towering above them. After walking about 500 meters, you will see a fork. The path to the right leads to the Big Gveleti Waterfall, the path to the left leads to the Small Gveleti Waterfall. All tourists go to the right to see the big waterfall. On the way back, if you wish, visit the Small Waterfall. The distance from the fork to the Small Gveleti Waterfall is only 280 meters.
