The Karcha-Tebe rock rises above the village of Arkhyz from the north-eastern side. There is an viewing point on its top, which offers a beautiful view of Arkhyz village and the surrounding mountains. Walking to this mountain is not difficult, however, the climb on the mountainside is very steep, and you must be prepared for this.
If you do not have your own car, then you can start a walk to the Karcha-Tebe rock from anywhere in the village of Arkhyz. You need to go to its northeastern outskirts and walk along Lesnaya Street to the Bella Vista Arkhyz hotel. The distance from the center of Arkhyz to this place is about 1.5 kilometers. Near the hotel you can see a path that turns left and goes into the forest. This path leads to the top of the Karcha-Tebe rock. This place can be reached by private car or taxi.
The distance from the hotel to the top of the Karcha-Tebe rock is only 850 meters, but the climb reaches 200 meters. This is the most difficult section, where the trail goes uphill very steeply. Some guidebooks say that this is a very easy route. This is partly true, but keep in mind the steep climb on the last section of the trail. In the village of Arkhyz, you can book a horse ride to the top of the rock. So, you can ride a horse and see a beautiful location in Arkhyz.
You need to climb to the very top of the Karcha-Tebe rock. There are ruins of the Alan Watchtower here, but they are barely visible on a rocky ledge. The top of the Karcha-Tebe rock is overgrown with large pines. Among them there is a small viewing point from which the entire village of Arkhyz, lying at the foot, is visible. From the east side there is a beautiful view of the valley of the Big Zelenchuk River and the German Meadow spot. Krasnaya Mountain (2,778 m) and Khizchertsakhra Mountain (2,818 m) rise above the valley.
