Kidrak Beach, also known as Kıdrak Koyu Plajı, is located just three kilometers southeast of central Oludeniz and represents one of the most picturesque and well-maintained bays on this coast. This place is often called the "paradise beach" by locals and experienced tourists due to the unique combination of turquoise water, golden sand, and majestic pine trees that come right up to the shoreline.
In 2017, Kidrak Bay received official status as a nature park, which guarantees the preservation of its pristine beauty and limits any commercial construction. The length of the beach is about 300 meters, which, with a fairly wide coastal strip, allows everyone to find a spot even in the high season without feeling crowded.
The main thing that distinguishes Kidrak from the famous Blue Lagoon or the bustling Belcekiz Beach is its amazing atmosphere of seclusion and closeness to wild nature. The shore here is covered with a mixture of coarse sand and fine golden pebbles, which shimmer pleasantly in the sun. The water in the bay is distinguished by its crystal clarity and rich turquoise hue, which changes throughout the day depending on the lighting.
The beach`s picturesqueness is enhanced by the high rocky cliffs framing the bay and the dense pine forest creating natural shade right at the water`s edge. Thanks to this, you can comfortably relax here even during the hottest midday hours, sheltered under the spreading tree canopies.
Interestingly, several decades ago, Kidrak Bay, like the neighboring Kabak Beach, was used as an unofficial camp for nudists. Today, it is a completely civilized place, yet retaining its spirit of freedom, where it is especially pleasant to spend time away from noisy resort entertainment.
Despite its nature park status, Kidrak Beach has all the necessary infrastructure for a comfortable holiday. On the territory, there are toilets, freshwater showers, and changing rooms. For those wishing to have a snack, a small buffet or cafe is open where you can order soft drinks and light snacks.
One of the unique features of Kidrak is the presence of specially equipped picnic areas. Tables and barbecues are set up in the shade of the pines, where you can cook barbecue by bringing your own food. This makes the beach an ideal place for a family or friendly outing in nature.
Hiking enthusiasts should definitely explore the surroundings. Trails are laid out around the bay, along which you can observe mountain goats, various birds, and butterflies, as well as enjoy stunning views of the coast.
Kidrak Beach is paid, which ensures its cleanliness and well-maintained condition. An entrance ticket costs 60 Turkish lira per person. Parking for a car will cost 180 Turkish lira for the whole day. Renting two sunbeds and an umbrella is 750 Turkish lira. For those who want more comfort, bungalow rental is available — a separate area under the trees with beds or sun loungers, costing 2000-3000 Turkish lira.
It is important to know that the administration does not prohibit visitors from bringing their own folding umbrellas, beach mats, and towels, which can significantly save money. You can also use free areas with natural shade from the trees.
The beach is open daily from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM; after sunset, the territory is closed.
The entrance to the sea at Kidrak Beach is quite convenient, but has its own characteristics. The depth increases quite quickly — after just 3-4 meters from the shore, it becomes deep. The bottom is rocky in places, with large tectonic plates encountered, so experienced tourists recommend using special swimming shoes.
Another characteristic feature of Kidrak is the fairly noticeable waves that often rise during the day. This attracts those who like to jump on the waves, but can cause inconvenience for small children. Children need to be watched especially carefully due to the waves and the rapid increase in depth.
The water here is often slightly cooler than in neighboring bays, which is associated with underwater springs flowing from the bottom. On a hot day, this makes swimming especially refreshing.
By public transport: The most economical way is the dolmus on the "Fethiye — Faralya — Kabak" route. Buses depart from Fethiye hourly from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. From Oludeniz, they pass through 45 minutes after departure from Fethiye, approximately at 7:45 AM, 8:45 AM, and so on until 7:45 PM. The fare from Fethiye to Kidrak is 100 lira, from Oludeniz — 20 lira. Payment is accepted in cash or by transport card.
By taxi: Taxi is the fastest and most comfortable option. The trip from central Oludeniz takes only 5-7 minutes and costs about 300 lira one way. You can call a taxi using special buttons on lampposts or at organized stands.
On foot: The distance from Belcekiz Beach to Kidrak is about 3 kilometers, which can be covered in 30-35 minutes of leisurely walking. The path runs along a picturesque road along the coast, however, it is worth considering that you will have to walk along the roadside under the scorching sun, and traffic poses a certain danger.
By car or scooter: Renting a car or scooter gives maximum freedom. The beach has a large guarded parking lot, and a significant part of it is in the shade of trees — a big plus on a hot day. The cost of parking is included in the general tariff or paid separately.
Unlike the central beaches of Oludeniz, Kidrak has no water attractions, jet skis, or "bananas." This is a conscious decision aimed at preserving natural peace and quiet. Loud music is not played here, and the main sounds remain the noise of the surf and the singing of birds.
Main types of recreation:
• Swimming and snorkeling — the purest water allows you to observe the underwater world near the rocky areas.
• Picnics — specially equipped areas with barbecues.
• Hiking — exploring the surrounding forests and rocks.
• Watching paragliders — Kidrak often serves as a landing site for athletes taking off from Mount Babadag.
Kidrak Beach is an ideal choice for those who are tired of noisy, crowded beaches and want to spend a day in harmony with nature. Yes, there is no developed entertainment infrastructure here, but that is precisely its main charm. Turquoise water, shady pines, the opportunity to have a picnic outdoors while being just a few minutes` drive from civilization — all this makes Kidrak a unique place on the Oludeniz coast.
