Kiselev rock is one of the most famous natural attractions of the Caucasus coast of the Black sea. It consists of marl slabs, which make up almost all the low mountains of the Western Caucasus.
If in Praskoveyevka the Sail Rock is perpendicular to the surf line, then the Kiselev rock protrudes into the sea, but its plates are located parallel to the surf line in the form of an arc. The height of the rock reaches 46 meters, and the width is 60 meters. The average thickness of marl slabs is less than half a meter.
The front side of Kiselev Rock looks like a smooth, slightly curved slab of concrete. The rock has a light color, however, in other places you can see that the marl slabs formed in the upper Cretaceous period (80 million years ago) have completely different shades: greenish, black, brown. At sunset, the rock turns a beautiful Golden color.
Previously, the Kiselev rock was called Kadash rock, but the artist Alexander Kiselev, who lived in Tuapse in the early 20th century, often painted it and later it was named after him. Naturally, the ancient Adyghe legend about the love of the girl Guash and knight Dysheek is also connected with such a significant natural monument. They loved each other, but their parents were against it. As a result, first the Dysheek was killed, and later the girl Guash also threw herself into the sea from this rock, and it was called "the Rock of tears".
The Eastern beach at Kiselev Rock is sometimes approached by large boats that bring large groups of tourists from Tuapse, Olginka, Agoy and other resort villages that are located in the immediate vicinity of the rock.
