The wooden Manor house of Arsenyev in the Tarkhany estate was built in 1818, when Mikhail Lermontov was 4 years old. The one-story house with a mezzanine floor was destroyed by fire, however, in 1999 it was restored, according to preserved drawings, on the original Foundation.

The house completely recreates the interior of a noble house of the early 19th century. The description of this house is preserved in many letters and notes of Lermontov, so we can see it as it looked during the life of the great Russian poet.

The living room, where the hosts received guests, is furnished with Empire-style furniture, which was in fashion in the first half of the 19th century. Here you can see the picture "Caucasian view near the village of Sioni", which Lermontov painted and presented to his grandmother. In the classroom, the boy Michel received home education. In the mezzanine is the work room of Elizabeth Arsenieva. Here you can see a Secretary with letters from her grandson, which have survived to this day.

The interior of Lermontov`s study in the mezzanine, where he composed his works, was recreated with special care. A portrait of Lord Byron hangs above the table. On the table is a notebook that Lermontov gave his friend Odoevsky. Lermontov recorded 16 of his most famous poems in it. There is a travel box, a cigarette case, an inkwell in the form of a lioness`s head, a glove with the initials ML and other personal belongings of the poet.

Next to the manor house is a Human hut, which is also called the House of the Key Keeper. It has a Museum exhibition dedicated to the life of the peasants of the 19th century. Near the house there is a monument to Mikhail Lermontov.
