There are five waterfalls on the Matlas plateau, but only the Matlas waterfall can be approached closely and even walk under its streams along a path on a steep cliff. Matlas waterfall has two cascades. The height of the upper cascade is about 20 meters, the second one is about the same.
You can go down to the Matlas Waterfall by a Stone Path, which begins near the Monument to Hadji Murad and Leo Tolstoy. This staircase was cut into the stones by hand, as the Avar khans liked to come here from Khunzakh to relax. In one of the rivers there are natural fonts where the wives and daughters of the Avar khans bathed. This place is called Khan`s baths. Now everyone can swim in the fonts. Khan`s Waterfall is located nearby.
The place at the foot of the stone plateau is very convenient for relaxing, there is shade here, and the falling jets of the Matlas waterfall create coolness. After walking on the trail at the foot of the plateau, tourists can then climb up in another place. There is an iron structure with a staircase.
