Observation deck at Chirkeyskaya HPP in Sulak Canyon

On the observation deck at the Chirkeyskaya HPP, you can see the narrowest part of the Sulak Canyon, as well as the dam of the Chirkeyskaya HPP. It is located 5 kilometers from the village of Dubki. Many tourists visit only the observation decks in the Dubki and do not come here, but it must be done.  

The width of the Sulak Canyon varies within 3 kilometers, but near the Chirkeyskaya hydroelectric power station, the Sulak Canyon is much narrower. The observation deck is a hill on the edge of a cliff without fences. The narrow part of the rock, about 1 meter wide, protrudes several meters towards the canyon. Sometimes this part of the rock is called "Troll`s Tongue". There are always a lot of people who want to climb this protruding rock to take a spectacular photo. People are not stopped by the fact that it is very dangerous, since the height of the cliff reaches several hundred meters.   

After visiting this rock, you need to go two hundred meters to the right. There is another observation deck there, from which the Chirkeyskaya HPP is better visible. There is also a very beautiful view of the narrow part of the Sulak Canyon.  

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, excursions to the Chirkeyskaya HPP are held every week. You will be able to go to the dam and look at the hydroelectric power plants. Chirkeyskaya HPP is the most powerful in the Caucasus. Excursions are only possible by appointment.
