The Palace Park in Gomel is not only part of the famous palace complex but also an independent landmark. Located on the banks of the Sozh River, the park is one of the oldest and most picturesque in Belarus. Together with the Summer Garden and the Peter and Paul Cathedral, it creates a beautiful ensemble where nature and architecture complement each other.
The Palace Park was laid out in the late 18th century by Count Peter Rumyantsev, the first owner of the Gomel estate. The Peter and Paul Cathedral, located within the Palace Park, is one of the main architectural highlights of the complex. It was built in the early 19th century according to the design of architect John Clarke in the classical style. The cathedral was founded on the initiative of Nikolai Rumyantsev and consecrated in honor of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
