Phra Nang Caves Beach is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque beaches not only in Thailand but in the entire world. This 500-meter stretch of paradise along Krabi province`s Andaman Sea coast boasts dazzling white sand, but its true treasure lies in the breathtaking natural landscape that surrounds it.

The beach is framed by majestic limestone cliffs covered in tropical greenery. In the distance, you can see hills with peculiar rock formations, while just dozens of meters offshore rise dramatic rocky islands. During low tide, you can even wade out to these islands (the water reaching about waist-high).

What makes this beach particularly special are the numerous caves and stalactites hanging from the surrounding cliffs. Some of these stalactites reach an impressive 20 meters in length. The most spectacular ones can be seen on the cliff to the left of the beach, near the path from Railay Beach. Equally stunning stalactites adorn the rocky islands facing the beach.

The Princess Caves (Tham Phra Nang Nok)

On the left side of the beach lies the legendary Princess Cave. "Phra Nang" translates to "Holy Princess." Tham Phra Nang Nok is steeped in ancient Thai legends, said to be inhabited by the spirit of a sea princess - a mythical fertility goddess and protector of fishermen. For centuries, local fishermen have brought wooden phallic carvings (lingams) to the cave as offerings, praying for good catches and protection from storms. This tradition continues today, and visitors can still see these ritual offerings at the cave entrance.

How to Get to Phra Nang Caves Beach?

Previously, visitors could take boats directly from Ao Nang to Phra Nang Caves Beach. However, when overcrowding began threatening the beach`s ecosystem, local authorities prohibited boats from docking there. Now, visitors must take a boat to Railay Beach and then walk along a trail.

If coming from Ao Nang, boats will dock at East Railay Beach. From there:
1. Walk inland along the main street of the peninsula
2. Near the round Bistro, turn left toward West Railay Beach
3. Upon reaching the water, turn right and continue until you see the cliff
4. Look for the trail between the cliff and Rayavadee resort`s fence

The total walking distance is about 800 meters. Guests of Rayavadee resort enjoy private boat transfers directly from Krabi Airport.

Rock Climbing Paradise

Along the trail between Railay Beach and Phra Nang Caves Beach, as well as on Phra Nang`s cliffs themselves, you`ll find some of the world`s best rock climbing spots. These vertical cliffs with dozens of routes of varying difficulty attract climbers from across the globe. Several climbing schools operate here for beginners, while experienced climbers can test their skills at:

• Thaiwand Wall: Challenging vertical faces for professionals
• Diamond Cave: Easier routes perfect for beginners

Phra Nang Caves Beach represents the perfect harmony of nature, where every visitor can find their ideal tropical getaway!
