Sanur Beach in Bali is a destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Unlike the bustling beaches of Kuta and Seminyak, Sanur offers a serene atmosphere perfect for family vacations. With its soft white sand, turquoise waters, and picturesque promenade, Sanur has long earned a reputation as one of the most pleasant spots on the island.

Sanur Beach stretches for several kilometers along the coast, offering numerous cozy spots for relaxation. The sand here is soft and clean, and the ocean waters are calm, thanks to the protective coral reef that softens the waves. This makes Sanur an excellent place for swimming, especially for families with children. The reef also attracts snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, as it is home to colorful fish and other marine life.

One of the main features of Sanur is its promenade, known as Pantai Sanur or Sanur Beach Walk. This wide pedestrian pathway runs along the shore, where you can enjoy a stroll under the shade of palm trees while admiring the ocean views. The promenade is lined with numerous cafes, restaurants, and bars where you can sample Balinese cuisine or enjoy fresh seafood.

Sanur is one of the oldest tourist destinations in Bali. In the early 20th century, it became popular among European artists and writers who were inspired by its beauty and tranquility. One of the most famous visitors to Sanur was the Belgian painter Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur de Merprès, who settled here and created numerous paintings depicting Balinese nature and culture.

Sanur is also known as the place where modern tourism in Bali began. In 1963, the island`s first five-star hotel, the Bali Beach Hotel, was opened here, and it remains one of the key landmarks to this day.

What to Do at Sanur Beach?

2. Boat Rides: Rent a traditional Balinese *jukung* boat and take a day trip to Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida.

3. Cycling: Sanur is famous for its bike paths. Rent a bicycle and explore the surroundings, including rice fields and traditional villages.

5. Fish Market: Visit the local fish market early in the morning to see fishermen returning with their catch and try the freshest seafood.

The best time to visit Sanur is during Bali`s dry season, which lasts from April to October. During this period, the weather is sunny, and the ocean is calm. However, Sanur is enjoyable year-round due to its sheltered location, which makes it less prone to waves and winds.

Morning is the ideal time for beach walks and sports, while in the evening, you can enjoy the sunset, which is particularly beautiful here. The sunsets in Sanur may not be as famous as those in western Bali, but they have their own charm, painting the sky in soft pastel tones.
