Southern Agora of Miletus

During its heyday (6th century BC – 3rd century AD), the Southern Agora in Miletus was one of the largest market squares of the ancient world. Its dimensions (approximately 164 × 196 m) and monumental architecture underscored Miletus` significance as a major trade and cultural center of Ionia.
