The Tarkhany estate park covers an area of about 140 hectares. These vast lands belonged to the Arsenyev-Stolypin family for more than two centuries. There are cascading ponds with walking paths along the banks, orchards, oak and birch groves. Overall, the Tarkhany estate looks like a rich nobleman`s mansion of the Russian hinterland.
The Manor House is located quite far from the entrance to the estate. Next to the entrance is a picturesque Barsky pond. Further along the alley you need to walk a few hundred meters to the fork. To the right, the road leads to the manor houses and to the left to the Distant Apple orchard. There is a Green theater and a flat area that stretches to a Long Grove. The Distant Garden has the square shape with eight alleys that converge to the center, where there is a wooden pavilion.
In the Park of the Tarkhany Estate, a system of 4 ponds connected to each other by channels has been created. Beautiful walking alleys and bridges have been created around them. On the Bank of a Large pond at the foot of the hill, on the orders of Lermontov`s grandmother, trenches were dug for the war games of her grandson Michel.
A Large Pond is located to the South of the Manor house. On the shore side of the house there are terraces and a Middle garden, where there is a Secret Gazebo. On the bridge you can go to the other side of the pond to the Round Garden and then to the Oak grove.
