The most beautiful protected areas of the Ugra National Park are located along the bed of the Ugra River, in the Kaluga region. The source of the river is located in the Smolensk region. It flows 399 kilometers through the Smolensk and Kaluga lands and flows into the Oka River near the city of Kaluga.
The Ugra River flows among small hills, and a deciduous forest grows on its banks. There are many water and hiking trails along the river. On the map of the national park there are more than a hundred places where it is possible to place a camp on the banks of the Ugra River. Most of them are located away from the roads. Tourists who travel by boat along water routes in the Ugra National Park stop at them. There are campsites near the villages that can be reached by car. People come there for fishing and camping in nature.
On the website of the Ugra National Reserve (parkugra.ru) the rules for visiting the protected area are written. There is a requirement to purchase entrance tickets for routes in the park. Many do not do this for short visits to the park, but if you are going on a trip for a few days, it is better to buy an entrance ticket.
Very beautiful landscapes of the Ugra River can be seen in the Nikola-Lenivets Art Park. The Arkhstanding Festival is held there every summer. Architects are erecting various art objects in the park. From the high bank in the village of Nikola-Lenivets, you can see the beautiful bend of the Ugra River and the most famous art object, the Lighthouse.
From the village of Nikola-Lenivets, an hiking trail begins along the bank of the Ugra River to the village of Zvizzhi. The length of the route is 3 kilometers, and it takes place in a deciduous forest. Nettles and other plants along this trail reach a height of 1.5 meters. The nature of the central part of Russia is very beautiful here.
