The workshop in Abramtsevo is located next to the Main Estate House. It was built in 1873 by architect Hartmann. Externally, the house does not look big, but inside the whole space is made as a single hall with huge windows. At the entrance there are two more rooms for utility work. Now all the rooms of the Abramtsevo Workshop are exhibition halls.
Architect Hartman never visited Abramtsevo, and his assistant Gromov was engaged in the construction, so the artists and sculptors of the Abramtsevo’s society did not accept this workshop. However, then the sculptor Mark Antakolsky, artists Viktor Vasnetsov, Ilya Repin, Konstantin Serov and others worked there.
At the entrance to the Workshop, visitors see a portrait of Vera Mamontova by Viktor Vasnetsov. In this portrait she is 21 years old, but the public knows another portrait of Vera Mamontova, where she is 12 years old. This portrait was painted by Valentin Serov and is called "Girl with peaches".
In the center of the Workshop, you can see a dress in a glass case. Vera Mamontova posed for Vasnetsov in this dress. Numerous portraits and sketches made by Abramtsevo artists hang on the walls, as well as their busts. In the corner there is an oven covered with majolica, made by Mikhail Vrubel.
