The ruins of 4 ancient Roman-era villas are preserved in the archaeological park of Kato Paphos. During the excavations, the most beautiful mosaic floors were discovered, which became a real decoration of the ancient city of Kato Paphos. The ancient villas are named after ancient Greek gods and heroes: The Villa of Dionysus, the Villa of Theseus, the House of Aion, and the House of Orpheus.

The closest to the entrance to the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park is the small House of Aeon. It contains mosaic panels of the 4th century AD. The small size of the colored smalt, from which the mosaics are made, testifies to the high skill of the creators of these compositions. The most famous of them are: The Triumph of Dionysus, Cassiopeia and Nereida, the Bathing of Leda, Apollo and Marsyas. These mosaic panels are located inside a closed room.

To the right of the House of Aion are the ruins of the Villa Theseus. Polish archaeologists in 1966 unearthed the foundations of a huge building with dozens of rooms. There is a version that it was the house of the Roman consul. In many rooms, magnificent mosaics were found on the floor. The most beautiful of them is a round mosaic panel "The Duel of Theseus and the Minotaur".

he mosaic floors in the Villa of Dionysus occupied an area of more than 1400 m2, but most of them have not survived to this day. Here you can see the ruins of the colonnades, in the east wing found the ruins of the baths. The house was destroyed by an earthquake in the 4th century AD.

Next to the Villa of Theseus near the sea is the House of Orpheus. It has a small atrium, around which the living and utility rooms were located. There are also preserved mosaic panels.

If you go from the Villa of Theseus in the direction of the Agora, you can see the building, which is built over the mosaic panels of the Villa of Dionysus. The territory of the villa of Dionysus is 2 thousand meters, of which more than 500 square meters are covered with beautiful mosaics of the 4th century AD. The subjects of many of them are associated with the god of winemaking Dionysus.
