April 9th Street is the main promenade of the balneological resort of Borjomi. It starts near the entrance to Borjomi Central Park and stretches 700 meters to the embankment of the Kura River. April 9th Street is located in a narrow gorge overgrown with dense forest. The stormy mountain river Borjomula flows through this gorge.
Due to the narrowness of the gorge, large-scale construction of hotels or sanatoriums is impossible. The Borjomi healing water spring is located in the Central Park, and the hotels are located in a narrow strip on both banks of the Borjomula River on April 9 Street.
Mirza-Rize-khan`s house is located directly at the entrance to the Central Park on the 9th of March Street. This is one of the most interesting historical sights of Borjomi. The house was built in 1892 for the Iranian consul. Both Iranian and Georgian features are visible in its architectural style. Now one of the best hotels in Borjomi is located in the House of Mirza-Rize Khan. You can also visit it with a guided tour.
On the opposite shore is the Crown Plaza Borjomi Hotel. This is the largest and most comfortable hotel in Borjomi, where many vacationers stay. There is a small garden in front of it, where there is a spring with cold Borjomi mineral water. Water from a cold spring can be stored for 2-3 months, while water from a warm spring in Central Park loses its properties within 1 day.
The equipped embankment of the Borjomula River stretches for several hundred meters from the Crown Plaza Borjomi Hotel. Here you can see the famous Loop Bridge. If you walk along the April 9th Street on in the direction of the Kura River, then on both banks there are restaurants, hotels, inexpensive guest houses. There are always a lot of tourists who walk around, enjoying the pleasant atmosphere of the mountain gorge.
