The Russian style of Orthodox churches and Imperial palaces is very different from anything that can be seen in other countries. The churches have distinctive onion-domes and are painted with icons. Palaces have significantly more magnificent decoration than in other countries.
St. Petersburg was built as the imperial capital of Russia, that’s why there are two churches and two palaces, which can be attributed to the architectural masterpieces of Russia. All surfaces of the Church of the Savior on Blood inside are decorated with mosaic panels in the Byzantine style. Two of the most famous palaces in Saint Petersburg are located in Peterhof and Tsarskoye Selo. The Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo is famous for its Amber room. Peterhof has beautiful fountains and a very picturesque park.
The symbol of Russia is often called St. Basil`s Cathedral in Moscow. It was built in the 16th century in the traditional Russian style. Masterpieces of Russian wooden architecture can be viewed in the Museum on Kizhi island in lake Onega.

In the city of Nevyansk near Yekaterinburg in the 18th century, industrialist Demidov built a tower, but already in the process of construction, it began to tilt and the upper tiers were completed taking into account this slope due to subsidence of the soil. Thus, in Russia, as well as in Pisa, there also is an Inclined tower.
