The Pedestrian Bridge of Peace is located in the historical center of Tbilisi. It connects Rike Park on the right bank of the Kura River with the Old Town of Tbilisi on the left bank. The bridge is made of glass and looks very impressive, especially in the evening when the backlight turns on.
The Bridge of Peace was built in 2010 during the complete reconstruction of the historical center of the city. Rike Park was just an island for a long time, with a lot of sand and silt. During the reconstruction, the soil of Rike Park was strengthened, and a magnificent city park was laid out on this place.
In addition to the traditional alleys and trees, a Cultural center in the form of glass pipes was built in the park. At first, the residents of Tbilisi very ambiguously accepted these pipes. Parisians protested about the same during the construction of the Eiffel Tower. Now residents and tourists are used to these pipes of the Cultural Center and have no idea what could be different.
The Glass Bridge of Peace in the middle of the stone buildings of the old city is united by a single idea with pipes. Together they symbolize a renewed Georgia. The Bridge of Peace was built according to the project of the Italian architect Michele de Lucca. The bridge is built of steel and glass. A 156-meter steel frame rises above the pedestrian crossing.
