Mtatsminda Park is located on Mtatsminda Mountain, which, translated from Georgian, means “Holy Mountain”. Its height reaches 770 meters. You can get there by funicular or by car along the serpentine through the Okrokana district. The observation deck offers a magnificent view of Tbilisi, as well as the surrounding area of the city.

The park area on Mtatsminda Mountain was formed at the beginning of the 20th century, when a funicular was built in 1905, thus it became possible to climb from Tbilisi to the top of the mountain. Over time, a chaotic development of restaurants and taverns has formed here.

Mtatsminda Park was equipped as a recreation area in Soviet times personally by Lavrenty Beria, who was the head of the Tbilisi City Committee. He demolished the chaotic building and organized a recreation park with children`s attractions. On the edge of the mountain above the upper station of the funicular, he built a famous restaurant, which is called "Funicular". It is still very popular, not only because of the beautiful view from its windows on Tbilisi, but also delicious Georgian cuisine.

For tourists, the observation deck, a restaurant and a funicular ride with a stop at the Pantheon are of the greatest interest in Mtatsminda Park. An even scenic view of Tbilisi opens from the Ferris wheel with a height of 62 meters. If you have children and you want to spend time with them on the attractions, then you can plan half a day, since the amusement area in Mtatsminda Park is very large. The attractions are divided into three zones: children`s, family and extreme.

The length of the funicular ascent along the slope of Mtatsminda Mountain is 501 meters. In the middle of the way, there is a Pantheon (necropolis) of public and literary people of Georgia, as well as the Church of St. David. The tombs of the Russian great poet Alexander Griboyedov and his wife Nina Chavchavadze, who was the daughter of a Georgian prince, are located here. Near the church is the grave of Ekaterina Giladze, the mother of Joseph Stalin.
