Cape Meganom is a large peninsula, which is located 10 kilometers east of Sudak. It is called one of the driest places in the Crimea, but this nature has its own charm. Ordinary visitors come to Cape Meganom with a short excursion, and followers of esoteric teachings consider it a Place of Power and come here for their rituals.
Cape Meganom is the complete opposite of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. If there you can enjoy the exuberant variety of flowers and plants, then only two colors prevail on Cape Meganom: gray grass and brown rocks. The blue color of the sky and the sea contrasts with this. In some places, drought-resistant green plants grow, but there are very few of them.
The picturesque coastline of the Novy Svet resort and Sudak is formed by reef rocks consisting of compressed skeletons of mollusks and corals. The waters of the ancient Tethys Ocean covered this area in the Mesozoic era, about 200 million years ago. Unlike them, Cape Meganom is formed by sandstone.
The maximum height of its mountain range is 358 meters. Over time, very beautiful forms of weathering formed on Cape Meganom, which are called "badlands".
Badlands are areas of soil subject to erosion and weathering. They are completely unsuitable for agriculture. Most of the Meganom’s territory is a classic bedlands, but in some places erosion and weathering have created such beautiful shapes that they attract tourists and photographers.
It is best to start a tour of Cape Meganom near the car camping Meganom, which is located near the village of Mindalnoe, from the side of Sudak. There is a very large beach where you can park your car. It is best to go into the Meganome area through the highlands, and return back along the seashore.
From the highlands of Cape Meganom, you can see the most beautiful sandstone formations that have weathered in the form of narrow jagged crests. These crests are called "Penitent Monks". Once it seemed to someone that they looked like monks in caps, kneeling.
The length of the coastline of Cape Meganom reaches 15 kilometers. Tourists most often visit its western shore, since there is a lighthouse and a military unit on the eastern shore, where access is closed. The most beautiful weathering rocks "Penitent Monks" are located above the Gravel Bay.
There is a picturesque beach covered with pebbles. You can go down to it from the highlands. An interesting underwater world and clean water attract divers here. Cape Rybachy rises above the Gravel Bay, and behind it is Shark Bay, where there is a nudist beach.
If you go even further, you will see various pagan and Hindu "temples": Shiva Temple, Ganesha Temple, Hanuman Temple. They are self-made altars that are visited by numerous followers of various esoteric teachings. They consider Cape Meganom a Place of Power, the same as the Temple of the Sun in Foros.
Followers of esoteric teachings tell various legends about Cape Megan: the appearance of yellow rings on the surface, the appearance of UFOs, the appearance of ghosts. All this attracts many visitors.
