Central Park is the main tourist attraction of the balneological resort of Borjomi. The park is located in a narrow mountain gorge. In some places, its width between the mountains is only about 200-300 meters. Only the trail along the Borjomula River is available for passage.
The entrance to Borjomi Central Park is located at the widest point of the gorge. There is a large car parking near the entrance to the park. The main architectural attraction of Borjomi is also located here – the House of Mirza-Rize Khan, built in the Persian-Georgian style in 1892. April 9th Street, the main promenade of the city, begins here.
There is a cable car at the entrance to the Central Park. You can use it for climbing the Borjomi Mountain Plateau. The resort itself is located at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, and by cable car, you can climb about 500 meters higher.
The main attraction of the Central Park is the Source of Borjomi mineral water, famous sodium bicarbonate water. The mineral water in the pump room is warm. It differs from Borjomi mineral water, which is sold in bottles all over the world. Borjomi water, which comes out here from an underground spring, has a taste of hydrogen sulfide and iron. This mineral water is therapeutic, and Borjomi water, which is sold in bottles, belongs to the category of table water.
Some people fill large bottles in this source. However, it is important to remember that the warm Borjomi water from the Pump Room in Central Park retains its medicinal properties only during the day and you cannot drink medicinal water in large quantities. It should be drunk in courses prescribed by a doctor. On April 9th Street in front of the Crown Plaza Borjomi Hotel there is a natural spring with Borjomi cold water. It retains its properties for up to 3 months.
A walking path is laid along the Borjomi Central Park along the Borjomula riverbed. Alas, but the territory of the park needs improvement. In some places of the gorge, you can see small waterfalls of streams that flow down the mountain slopes. A sculpture of Prometheus is installed near the largest waterfall.
