From the Mayatskaya fortress you should go along the footpath skirting a small but deep ravine, and then across the space with the patches of feather-grass and after several hundred meters you will be near the huge chalk canyon of Divnogorie national park.
The upper part of the canyon (or ravine) is more beautiful as its walls are cut up by chalk teeth. The three branches of the canyon called «Three Yaruzhki» merge and give to the Don lowland.
The canyon is 30 meters deep. One can have a view on the most beautiful part of the canyon from the path leading to the archaeological park «From nomads` camps to towns». There it isn’t very deep but the chalk teeth are most beautiful. During the day the chalk cliffs have a dazzling-white color, and in the rays of the setting sun they acquire a pinkish shade.
