The City Garden is located in the historical center of Makhachkala. Three main museums of Makhachkala are located next to it: the National Museum of Dagestan, the Museum of Fine Arts of Makhachkala and the Museum of Dagestan Village. After visiting the museums, you can relax in the City Garden, sit in cafes or stroll along the alleys.

There are several monuments in the City Garden of Makhachkala. There is a Monument to Vladimir Lenin in front of the entrance from Lenin Street. In the center of the garden, there is a monument to Abdurakhman Daniyalov, who was the head of the Republic of Dagestan for 30 years, from 1940 to 1970. Near the Lenin monument, there is a monument to the Liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. Part of the City Garden of Makhachkala is the Summer Playground of the Philharmonic.

The City Garden of Makhachkala overlooks Rodobsky Boulevard, which is called the Embankment of Makhachkala. It is located near the shore of the Caspian Sea, but is separated from it by railway tracks. The city was founded in 1844 as a port on the Caspian Sea. The railway, which was built in the second half of the 19th century, was decided to make directly along the seashore. From Rodopsky Boulevard, you can walk through an underground passage to the City Beach.
