The wide Embankment of Zelenogradsk stretches for 2 kilometers along the historical center of the former Prussian resort of Cranz. The embankment is very wide, there are paths for bicyclists and for walking. Everywhere there are benches and small summer cafes.
Various sports facilities have been built on the embankment. There are fitness equipment, scooters and bicycles for rent. You can also play big chess on the embankment. The chessboard is drawn on the ground, and the pieces need to be moved with your hands.
The Queen Louise Well Room is located on the Zelenogradsk embankment. You can test heer the local mineral water "Zelenogradskaya". The well room is named after Queen Louise of Prussia, who visited Cranz in 1807. At that time, king Frederick William III had already signed a program to create a resort in Cranz, but its implementation was delayed due to the beginning of the wars with Napoleon. Queen Maria Luisa was on her way to Memel in 1807, but made a stop in Cranz to estimate the possibilities of creating a future resort.
From the Well Room of Queen Louise to the Resort Boulevard leads Friendship Alley. It preserves the Gothic building of the Prussian administration of Cranz. In this place, a pier was built, which extends for several tens of meters into the Baltic sea. From the pier, you can see the wooden breakwaters that have been preserved since the last century.
